It is a revolutionary new vehicle servicing facility, allowing companies and drivers to benefit from a host of services facilitated by the Airmax Remote telematics unit (RTU), which has QS9000 accreditation.
For both companies and their drivers the key ones are mileage capture, the on-line automated journey logging facility available for drivers and fleets and the pro-active notification of vehicle services becoming due. Driver style monitoring is becoming more important as legislation impacts on duty of care, health and safety, driver time directives and corporate manslaughter legislation.
Airmax Remote uses ‘black box’ units installed covertly in your vehicles to communicate directly with your engine management system and detailed positioning information (GPS) to web database application hosted by Airmax Remote. We display your vehicle information in the form of reports on a secure web based platform. The settings offered are:
For those RTUs fitted with GPRS data can be transmitted in real time or by pre-agreed periodic intervals. It is not cost efficient to use GPRS in real-time but to configure to download at pre set intervals or times.
Each RTU is contracted for 1-megabyte data per month x 36 months and this can be increased by request and is subject to tariff. The network overhead of sending frequent GPRS messages is often understated or misunderstood. A fair use tariff will apply and excessive or exceeded megabytes will be chargeable unless bundled.
Data that is sent by SMS operates by compressing trip data into one SMS message. The system will not report until 10 trips are collected and will auto-send when the 160 character SMS is full. More frequent SMS's can be configured but the cost will be higher as often multiple messages will be sent during the contracted month.
By agreement SMS messages can be configured to send mileage or trips:
Driver profile data is sent by separate SMS and only when the system is commanded to do so. 140 trips are stored in flash memory should for any reason the RTU stops reporting.
For customers on vehicle Contract Maintenance, data received is automatically input into our fleet management software and compared with the manufacturer's servicing intervals to determine how soon the next service is due. Interestingly services intervals will differ as they are influenced by driver styles.
For those vehicles fitted with a non-GPS RTU, it can record mileage events and journey logs by utilising 'STD Codes', as within any mobile phone - albeit only for access by the driver or with the drivers permission.
Fleet managers will also be able to create reports on vehicle utilisation, work hours management and exception reporting.
Alternatively we will stream the data via Airmax Live™ and you can integrate the data in your own systems.
Airmax Remote can vary in its accuracy depending on its use of GPS or Cell ID. The Global Position System (GPS) network which normally reports the vehicle position to within a few metres.
All systems since 2008 have auto update technology as standard.
